Alaska: RV Tour

Join the team of True Voyagers. Traveling in a RV Caravan through Alaska is an amazing experience because of the sheer beauty of the natural surroundings. From the majestic views of mountains and vast forests to the vast open spaces of tundra and rivers, Alaska is a stunning playground for outdoor adventurers. The wildlife has opportunities to view majestic animals like grizzly bears, bald eagles, and moose while also experiencing stunning scenery. Live a Nomad Life, catch wild fish, cook on a camping fire, and get close to your own nature.

Alaska Trip Plan (9 Days) 3000$

Dates : 

  • July 21-29, 2023

  • August 8- 16, 2023

Day 1: Arrival in Anchorage

  • Arrive in Anchorage and proceed to the RV rental agency.
  • Rent the RV (largest size) for the entire trip.
  • Visit Walmart to purchase food, drinks, alcohol, fishing tackle, and any necessary supplies.
  • Drive to Willow Creek, the first fishing and camping spot.
  • Learn how to fly fish and target Pink Salmon.
  • Set up camp and prepare caviar.

Day 2: Kenai Peninsula

  • Drive south to Kenai Peninsula.
  • Stop at Birds Creek to observe bears and catch Silver Salmon.
  • Visit Portage Glacier and enjoy the scenic view.
  • Take the tunnel to Whittier, a fishing village, and camp there.

Day 3: Optional Boat Tour and Portage Glacier Hike

  • Decide whether to take an optional boat tour to see glaciers, wildlife, and fjords.
  • Hike to see Portage Glacier.
  • Return to the campsite in Whittier.

Day 4: Moose Pass and Cooper Landing

  • Drive south to Moose Pass.
  • Decide whether to take an optional ultralight flight to see glaciers and lakes.
  • Proceed to Cooper Landing and camp at the Russian River Campground.
  • Collect Aspen mushrooms and prepare a delicious soup.
  • Prepare for night fishing to target Red Salmon (Sockeye).

Day 5: Russian River and Bear Watching

  • Hike to Russian River Waterfalls to witness salmon jumping upstream and bears feeding on Red Salmon.
  • Try catching salmon by hand, similar to bears’ fishing techniques.
  • Return to the campsite in Cooper Landing.

Day 6: Homer and Optional Halibut Fishing Trip

  • Drive to Homer, a fishing town at the end of the road.
  • Consider an optional fishing trip to catch Halibut.
  • Stop at small villages along the way, including ones with Old Faith Russians.
  • Camp in Homer.

Day 7: Hope and Optional Whitewater Rafting

  • Drive north to the small town of Hope.
  • Decide whether to experience optional whitewater rafting.
  • Camp in Hope.

Day 8: Hike to the Highest Point on Kenai Peninsula

  • Hike for four hours to reach the highest point on Kenai Peninsula.
  • Fish for Pink and Silver Salmon at the summit and collect caviar.
  • Return to the campsite in Hope.

Day 9: Seward and Alyeska Ski Resort

  • Drive to Seward, a fishing town.
  • Take an optional boat tour to see more than 15 glaciers.
  • Hike to see Exit Glacier (requires special ice clips).
  • Proceed to Alyeska Ski Resort and use lift chairs or gondolas to reach the top for a panoramic view.
  • Return the RV and prepare for the airport.

Additional information:

  • The trip can be extended to 10 days if desired.
  • Prices for the 9-day trip are estimated at $3000, excluding airfare, optional tours, and alcohol.
  • The RV rental, gas, water, food, and campsite fees are included.
  • The guide (Viktor) will provide assistance with fly fishing, caviar processing, fish cleaning, and food preparation.
  • Participants are expected to take turns and help with fish cleaning, caviar production, and food preparation.
  • Additional RV(s) may be rented if the group size exceeds 8 people.
  • Optional tour prices range from $80 to $1000, depending on the activity.
  • Participants must have the appropriate gear, including hiking shoes above the ankle, ice clips, chest waders, wading shoes, and a 9 ft fly fishing rod.

  • A trip plan is a rough outline, and activities can be adjusted and decided upon day by day. Alaska offers vast opportunities, and there is plenty to explore and discover. Enjoy your trip, and make sure to capture the beautiful moments along the way!
